How to Get Your House Ready for Sale

Thinking about selling your home? Before you do anything else, you need to get it ready! Three of our Realtors recommend the following tips for getting your house ready for sale.

John Riley, Realtor from our Amherst office suggests:

  1. Cut the grass. Trim the shrubs. Weed. Rake. Mulch.
  2. Gather anything loose in the yard and put it away. Clean, simple yard.
  3. Inside, decliner, depersonalize.
  4. Clean. Dust. Wash. Sweep. And then do it again.
  5. Clean or replace all dirty or damaged wall plates. Use new screws.
  6. Then call JOHN. 413-835-5038

Paula Davitt, Realtor from our Amherst office suggests:

  1. Landscaping. Curb appeal is everything.
  2. Super clean. You want potential buyers to be able to picture themselves living in your clean house!
  3. Minimalist decor. Less is more! No clutter.
  4. You can reach Paula at 413-896-7659

Lynn Sipitkowski, Realtor from our Northampton office suggests:

  1. Curb appeal to get them inside. Cut lawn, trim bushes and paint front door, if necessary, to invite people to take a closer look.
  2. Interior painting for a fresh look.
  3. Organize and declutter.  Clean out what you don’t need.
  4. You can reach Lynn at 413-326-1115

As you can see, our REALTORS have alot of the same advice. Their experience as REALTORS tells them what's important in getting a house ready for sale. If you're thinking of selling your home, give one of these REALTORS a call!
