There is plenty to do in Amherst, Massachusetts! Whether you enjoy great restaurants, museums, shopping, night life, and/or festivals, there is definitely something for everyone.


No trip to Amherst would be complete without a trip to one of the colleges: UMASS Amherst, Amherst College, and Hampshire College.


Amherst College not only has a beautiful campus, it also houses three world-renowned museums. The Beneski Museum of Natual History is one of New England’s largest natural history museums with three floors of exhibits. The Mead Art Museum holds the art collection of Amherst College, featuring paintings, ancient carvings, sculpture, and prints. The Emily Dickinson Museum is comprised of two historic houses, the Homestead, which was the birthplace and home of Emily Dickinson, and The Evergreens, home to her brother, Austin.


Trying to inspire a love of art and reading in your little one? You’ll definitely want to pay a visit to the Eric Carle Museum ( This wonderland has classes, events, gift making projects, storytime, films, and exhibitions.


Thinking of taking a hike? The 3,000 acre Mount Holyoke Range State Park features a 7-mile mountain ridge line. With activities like horseback riding, mountain biking, educational programs, and a visitor center, you’re sure to enjoy your day!


The Amherst Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday, 8am-1:30pm April 21 – November 17, 2018. The market is known as one of the best places for local food, fun, and community.
